Le Basilic ou Basilic romain est une espèce de plantes herbacées de la famille des Lamiacées, cultivée comme plante aromatique et condimentaire. La plante est parfois appelée Basilic commun, Basilic aux sauces, Herbe royale ou Grand Basilic. Le Basilic commun est largement employé dans la cuisine italienne, d’autres variétés de basilic sont répandues dans certaines cuisines asiatiques : Taiwan, Thaïlande, Vietnam, Cambodge et Laos.

Basil or Roman Basil is a species of herbaceous plants of the Lamiaceae family, cultivated as an aromatic and condimental plant. The plant is sometimes called Common Basil, Basil Sauce, Royal Herb or Grand Basil. Common Basil is widely used in Italian cuisine, other varieties of basil are common in some Asian cuisines: Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
